Working with Cynthia

Circle Graphic HeaderWelcome Header

As an experienced Interior Decorator I know that no two projects are alike.  There is no formula or template to excellent design… every client’s needs and requirements are different and for the process to truly achieve the best results this individuality must be considered and respected.  I tailor my services to ensure that I meet and exceed your expectations.  I will listen to your ideas and work with you to create the space you have been dreaming of. Unlike some design professionals I don’t want every project to be instantly recognizable as my work but rather a unique reflection of you my client… The only thing I want to be the same on every project is a happy client thrilled with what we have accomplished together.

Whether your home, cottage or business… Let’s make it perfect for you.

*Due to increasing demand, lead times for new client projects can range from 2-6 months. Please email to discuss current lead times and to request information on my fee schedule. An upfront design fee is required to reserve time on my schedule.

*I am a decorator and as such do not advise on structure.

Partial list of what I can provide for clients:

Initial Consult: The purpose of the initial consult is to develop a mandate for your project. By walking through your home and asking questions I get to know you and the scope of your project… your goals, tastes, needs and ideas for your home are all discussed.

Developing a Design Concept: Based on the mandate discussed at the initial consult I develop a design concept that speaks to your style and solves your design dilemmas. The concept is then presented with samples of fabrics, colours, furniture, rugs, lighting, art, etc.

I work very hard to develop a design concept that you will love… and I usually get it right. That said, revisions, slight direction changes or alternate furniture styles or fabric selections may be needed. This is what I refer to as the Design Development phase.

Design Development Phase: Fine-tuning of approved schematic design so that it becomes fixed. Shopping and showroom visits are done in this phase if necessary. Selection of all furnishings, fixtures, and finishes are completed. Quotes for those items are then given.

Once Clients have approved the quotes they then pay their deposit(s) or pay in full for items and we place the orders. Since many items are custom and almost all vendors need to be paid by me in full prior to installation, I require either a 50% deposit or payment in full, depending on estimated lead times or the particular items themselves. Once a client pays for that item, I don’t charge any more for time spent on that item. Time spent is included in the cost. The balance on any order is due on delivery.

The Final Phase: Installation: final delivery of goods and styling as needed.

          Elements…

Custom furniture. – For clients looking for new furniture and bedding, I can help you decide which furniture pieces can be reused and help you identify what new furniture you should buy to bring everything together. Custom bedding, pillows, furniture etc. can all be provided through my studio.

Custom windows coverings. – I will design personalized draperies that best suit your design style. With over 15 000 fabric samples in my studio and access to many more the possibilities are endless. Working within your budget I will help you choose wonderful fabrics,  trims and drapery hardware to make everything come together beautifully. I work directly with my seamstresses to ensure every detail is considered. This hands on approach is very important to me.

Antique & Art procurement. – Art is a very important part of designing home interiors. I help clients to acquire any antiques or art they may be interested in, I assists in the search and the purchase process and finally help identify where the pieces should be displayed in the home.
